Why Your Soul Might Experience the World Differently

Have you ever wondered why being human sometimes feels so hard?

Why you can walk into a room and sense that something isn't right before anyone has said a word. Why you can come home from an ordinary day feeling utterly drained, even when nothing particularly difficult has happened. Why you sometimes feel things so deeply that you struggle to explain them, even to the people closest to you.

Perhaps you've spent much of your life wondering why the world feels overwhelming, why you need time alone to recover, or why, deep down, you've sometimes felt as though you don't quite belong.

You may have learned to hide how much you feel because you don't want to seem overly sensitive or make a fuss. Perhaps you've even wondered whether life is simply harder for you than it is for everyone else.

But what if your sensitivity is a beautiful gift you've never been taught how to understand? What if your ability to sense and feel so much is part of why you're here? And what if learning to work with this gift could help you bring more love, healing and understanding into the world, without losing yourself in the process?

You may have been given the gift. You just haven't been given the manual.

When Being Sensitive Becomes Something You Hide

Perhaps you've been told, “You're too sensitive,” when something hurt you, when you tried to explain how you felt, or when someone thought you were making too much of a situation.

Over time, words like these can teach you to distrust your own experience. You might minimise your feelings, laugh off things that hurt, or convince yourself you're being dramatic when something doesn't feel right.

You can become so accustomed to questioning your reactions that you stop asking a much more interesting question: What am I actually feeling, and why?

You were never too sensitive. You may simply have never been taught how to understand the depth of what you feel.

There may be something important about your sensitivity that you've never considered.

When You Take In More Than You Realise

Many women who experience the world this way are natural carers. They become the nurses, teachers, counsellors, healers, mothers and friends everyone turns to. They're often the ones who notice when something is wrong, remember what everyone needs and show up when others are struggling.

But here's something I see time and again in my work.

Women who are wonderful at giving can be remarkably uncomfortable receiving.

They'll drop everything to help a friend, stay up late worrying about their children, or put their own needs aside because someone else needs them. Yet when they're the ones who need support, they find it difficult to ask. They might feel guilty resting, uncomfortable accepting help, or somehow obliged to give something back whenever someone does something kind for them.

They keep going. They push through the tiredness. They tell themselves they'll slow down when things settle down, when everyone else is okay, when there's finally a little space to breathe.

But when does that moment actually come?

I've worked with women who are so depleted that they have almost nothing left to give. Some are living with chronic fatigue or other significant health challenges. They have spent so long looking after everyone else that, somewhere along the way, caring for themselves became something they kept putting off until later.

Of course, illness is complex, and chronic fatigue has many possible causes. But the pattern of relentless giving and neglecting your own needs is one worth paying attention to.

Because here's the question I want you to consider.

What if you've become so practised at being there for everyone else that you've forgotten how to be there for yourself?

Perhaps you don't even know what you need anymore. Perhaps putting yourself first feels selfish.

Your needs matter, too. Not just when everyone else is taken care of. Not just when you've finished your to-do list. Not just when you've reached the point of exhaustion.

When You Carry What Isn't Yours

Sometimes, the exhaustion you feel may not be entirely your own.

We all experience the world differently. For some people, being in busy places, crowds, shopping centres or planes can feel overwhelming. They may struggle to explain why certain environments leave them utterly drained, or why they can feel perfectly fine one moment and completely depleted the next.

Some sensitive souls seem to take in far more of the energy around them than they realise. They can find themselves carrying feelings, heaviness and energy that may not even be theirs to begin with.

Imagine going through life not only experiencing your own feelings, but also feeling affected by so much happening around you. No wonder the world can sometimes feel exhausting.

But what if you don't have to experience it this way?

What if you could remain open-hearted and connected to the world, without taking everything around you into your own energy?

In my work, I help women explore a different way of experiencing the world. Rather than unconsciously shielding themselves from everything that feels overwhelming, they can begin to feel more at home in their own energy, without losing their openness to life and the people around them.

You can be open to the world without taking the whole world into yourself.

Perhaps the beautiful possibility is that you don't have to change who you are. You can begin to feel differently, without losing the parts of yourself you've spent years trying to understand.

Learning to Receive the Love You Give So Freely

I see this so often in my work. Women who give so freely to their children, partners, friends and family can feel surprisingly guilty when they want to spend a little time, money or energy on themselves.

And if it's not money, it's time. If it's not time, it's something else. There's often a reason why looking after everyone else feels justified, while looking after themselves needs to be justified.

But why?

From a spiritual perspective, I wonder whether part of the lesson is learning to recognise your own worth beyond what you do for others.

You don't have to earn rest by exhausting yourself first. You don't have to earn love by being endlessly useful. And you don't have to wait until everyone else's needs have been met before you are allowed to meet your own.

You are worthy of the same care you so freely give to everyone else.

I'm always encouraging women to put themselves at the top of their own to-do list. And if I've said this to you during a session, consider this a gentle reminder to check in. Are you still up there? Or have you quietly slipped back, or even worse… fallen off!

This isn't an indulgence or a nice extra to fit in when life is quiet. It's essential.

Because when you care for yourself, you have more of yourself to bring to the people you love. You can be a more present mother, a more connected partner, a more available friend, a more loving daughter, a more fulfilled employee. Not because you're trying harder to give, but because you're no longer giving from a place of depletion.

And this is where I want you to reconsider what it means to be generous.

What if generosity isn't about how much of yourself you can give away? What if it's also about allowing yourself to be nourished, supported and loved?

What if you could receive a compliment without dismissing it, accept help without immediately feeling you owe someone something, or spend an afternoon doing something for yourself without mentally listing all the things you should be doing instead?

You are not here simply to be a source of love for everyone else. You are here to experience love, too.

Perhaps this is part of learning to work with your gift: allowing love to flow towards you as freely as it flows from you.

You get to be the giver. You get to be the receiver. And you get to be a woman whose own life matters just as much as the lives she cares for.

You Don't Have to Find Your Way Alone

If you've recognised yourself in these words, I want you to know something.

You don't need to harden yourself to belong in this world, or spend your life trying to become someone you're not.

I often feel that some of the women who find their way to me experience the world a little differently. Almost as though they're still learning the ropes here on Earth. They sense so much, feel so much, and sometimes struggle to understand the way people behave, why the world works as it does, or why simply being here can feel so exhausting.

I can't claim to have all the answers. But I do feel drawn to help these women make sense of their experiences, understand themselves more deeply, and feel more at home in a world that hasn't always felt familiar.

Sometimes I picture myself as a guide, helping them find their feet, showing them things they may not have been taught about themselves, their energy and the way they experience the world. Almost as though I'm holding a flame to help illuminate the path ahead.

And I know that understanding ourselves doesn't always happen in one moment. Sometimes a session brings an insight that changes how we see something. Sometimes it opens a door to something we've been carrying for years, and we need a little more time and support to understand it, work through it and find a different way forward.

There is no rush and no one-size-fits-all answer. It's about allowing yourself the space to discover what you need, at your own pace.

If you've spent years feeling different, giving so much of yourself away, or wondering why life seems to affect you so deeply, I'd love to help you explore that.

You don't have to keep figuring it all out on your own.
